Recognizing a stroke quickly can save a life — and reduce long-term damage. The simple word F.A.S.T. helps you remember what to look for and what to do.

Face Drooping
Does one side of the face droop or feel numb? Ask the person to smile — is it uneven?

Arm Weakness
Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms — does one drift downward?
S
Speech Difficulty
Is speech slurred or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.

Time to Call 911
If you see any of these signs, call emergency services immediately. Note the time symptoms started.
